We are pleased to announce the results of the International Awards for Social Responsibility in Dermatology created on the occasion of the World Congress of Dermatology 2011 by Galderma and L’Oréal. This project is:

• Co-sponsored by L’Oréal and Galderma
• Organized within the scope of the World Congress of Dermatology (May 24-29, Seoul)
• Created to reward voluntary dermatological initiatives, coming from individuals, associations or hospitals, favoring patient support during his/her treatment and daily life
• Reward innovative community projects which offer benefits to patients in the areas of: Prevention, education / Quality of life and comfort / Access to care and coverage / Social insertion / Training for health professionals

The project has raised a lot of interest all over the world and has gathered many applications. All projects were examined by a Scientific Committee composed by five experts in dermatology, one per geographic zone. After a deliberation, the committee chose 15 nominees and selected the following five laureates:

• Morocco, for Africa:
  Dr. Hakima Benchiki, Global care of chronic dermatological diseases.
  
  
• Philippines, for Asia Pacific:
  Dr. Lonabel A. Encarnacion, Community Skin Health Program.
  
  
• Italy, for Europe:
  Dr. Carlo Gelmetti, The School of Atopy.
  
  
• United States, for North America:
  Dr. Claudia Hernandez, Melanoma surveillance in underserved Hispanic communities.
  
  
• Brazil, for South and Central America:
  Dr. Samuel Henrique Mandelbaum, Dermacamp.
  
  

The laureates were invited at the L’Oréal Seoul Gala Evening on Wednesday, 25th May 2011, an opportunity to present their initiatives to their peers and to receive their Awards in presence of Pr. Hee Chul Eun (President of the 22nd WCD), Humberto C. Antunes (Galderma) and Jean-Paul Agon (L’Oréal).
