WHAT IS SKIN QUALITY?
Skin quality refers to how the skin looks, feels and functions on a day-to-day basis, including its hydration, elasticity, smoothness, radiance, firmness, and tone.1 This naturally changes as we age, but factors like sun exposure, poor sleep and pollution, often shaped by local environment and culture, or the use of prescription weight-loss medications, can accelerate skin quality deterioration.2-4 It can also be influenced by natural, internal factors, like hormone changes during puberty and menopause.5
WHY DOES SKIN QUALITY MATTER?
Interest in skin quality is surging as social media and video calls put our complexions under constant scrutiny.1 The facts:
• ‘Skin quality’ saw an over 70% increase in news mentions and a 96% increase in social media mentions in the first four months of 2026 compared to the previous four-month period.6
• According to Galderma’s survey data, 9 in 10 people have concerns with their skin quality, with people generally rating it as 8 out of 10 in importance.7
• It has an impact on quality of life for 85% of people, with more than a third feeling self-conscious, insecure or anxious because of poor skin quality.7
Knowing how to address skin quality issues has never been more important.1 Getting it right can help people feel more confident, happy and comfortable in their own skin every day.1,7
